WORLD JUNIOR WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Birmingham, Great Britain
The International Wheelchair
Basketball Federation today announced that Iran has withdrawn from the
tournament due to visa difficulties.
IWBF President Maureen Orchard noted that: "This is very disturbing to
have a team withdraw but we have been fortunate to have the
Netherlands accept the invitation to replace them at this very late
date".
Competition begins 7 August with Great Britain playing Argentina in
the opening game. Other games that day are Germany who now will play
the Netherlands, Japan - Spain, France Australia, Brazil - USA and
Canada - Turkey. All competition is at the NIA centre in
downtown Birmingham beginning at 12 noon.
