BIG Games 2024

Sofia, Bulgaria, is set to host an exhilarating wheelchair basketball tournament on September 8-9, 2024, featuring teams from across Europe. The main event, as part of the project “@Basketball inclusive “Basketball Inclusive Games – BIG” which is implemented as part of the Erasmus Sport program under the auspices of the EU, promises intense competition, showcasing the remarkable skills and sportsmanship of athletes from eight different countries.
Group A: CSKA Basketball Hall
On September 8, 2024, Group A teams will battle it out at the CSKA Basketball Hall, starting with an early morning clash between Romania and Türkiye at 08:00. This will be followed by a 10:00 face-off between Croatia and Poland. The excitement continues in the afternoon with Poland taking on Türkiye at 14:00, and the day concludes with Croatia versus Romania at 16:00.
The competition heats up further on September 9, 2024, with Türkiye going head-to-head with Croatia at 10:00, followed by Romania versus Poland at 12:00.
Group B: “Triaditsa” Sports Hall
Simultaneously, Group B will have its own thrilling matches at the Triaditsa Sports Hall. The action begins at 08:00 on September 8, 2024, with Serbia competing against Greece. The next game at 10:00 sees Cyprus battling it out with the host nation, Bulgaria. The afternoon schedule includes Serbia versus Cyprus at 14:00, and the day wraps up with Bulgaria facing Greece at 16:00.
On September 9, 2024, with Bulgaria going head-to-head with Serbia at 10:00, followed by Cyprus versus Greece at 12:00.
“BIG” is project funded by the European Union and IWBF Europe is one of the proud project partners. Main aim from IWBF Europe part was and still is to share knowledge, connecting people in our wheelchair basketball community and support development. For past months seminars for coaches and referees were held and hosted by each project partner entity (club, federation…)
