Hans Vorsteveld: big and unexpected loss for our wheelchair basketball family
“People we love stay forever because they leave traces in our hearts”
It is with immense sadness that we have learned of the passing of Hans Vorsteveld.
It is big and unexpected loss for our wheelchair basketball family.
Hans was the first open minded medical doctor for the functional classification of Dr. Horst Strohkendl.
He quickly became a good observer and, combined with his medical knowledge, was an especially important person in various panels and very often contributed significantly to decisions and a correct classification.
Personally, as a young classifier, I learned a lot from Hans, who, with his knowledge and his collegial, friendly approach, has added a lot to my development.
Lately, Hans was really busy with the difficult question of minimal disability and the associated correct classification.
With Hans Vorsteveld, the wheelchair basketball family not only loses an excellent classifier from the very beginning, but also a person who has worked, you can say, lived with a lot of knowledge, passion and above all with a heart for wheelchair basketball.
We wish his family and loved ones a lot of strength for this difficult time.
Hans will be always remembered in our memory. And will always be part of our wheelchair basketball family.
Our most sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be sorely missed.
