Christmas 2025 – New Year 2026

Dear Basketball Family,

A year has almost passed, and thanks to your tireless dedication and outstanding work, IWBF Europe has once again delivered fantastic events and achieved great success.

I would like to highlight the incredible achievements of our young players at the U23 World Championship in São Paulo, where all three medals went to Europe – gold for Germany, silver for Türkiye, and bronze for Great Britain.

The division A European Championship for Men and Women in Sarajevo was also a success – congratulations to Spain for winning gold in the men’s competition and to the Netherlands for winning gold in the women’s competition.

Congratulations also to Bulgaria for winning the gold medal at this year’s C European Championship in Sofia. In this context, a big thank you to Toyota Motor Europe for their generous support as a partner of the European Championship in Sofia.

As always, we were able to hold our European club competitions very successfully at the highest level, with a new record number of participants.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude. The fact that all the individual components of the IWBF Europe organization mesh so seamlessly is thanks to you – the associations, clubs, coaches, athletes, and the thousands of volunteers. You are the key to our success.

I would also like to thank my Executive board and Petr Tucek, Secretary General for the great support I receive as President.

The period just before the end of the year is always a time for me to reflect on our goals for 2026 and on what we can improve. There is always room for improvement, and I hope that my Board and I will make the right decisions so that wheelchair basketball in Europe remains the leading zone within the IWBF.

I wish you and your families all the best, good health for 2026, and continued enjoyment of our beloved sport.

Always remember,

that there is only one important time: Today, Here, Now.
