New Names for EuroCup Rounds

New Names for EuroCup Rounds

New title, old format

On 6th September 2022, the IWBF Europe Competitions Commission met to discuss the upcoming competitions. One of the focuses was the EuroCup – the highest wheelchair basketball club competition in Europe – which allocations are expected to be announced in the upcoming month.
The Commission, after carefully considering some options, decided to rename the EuroCup rounds as we return to normal events following the pandemic. Champions Cup and EuroCup 1, 2, and 3 are now the new names beginning from the 2023 competition. The format will remain unchanged, but the preliminary rounds will now be known as group stages.
In addition, the full title of the competition stated in the Manual will be Wheelchair Basketball Club Cup Competitions in Europe, but it will still be known as EuroCup.
