Great News: IWBF Europe Announces EuroCup 2022 Allocations

The allocations for the EuroCup 2022 have been assigned: Germany, Italy and France

EuroCup preliminary rounds and Champions League quarter finals were supposed to take place this weekend. Unfortunately, the spread of Omicron variant of Coronavirus, forced IWBF Europe to cancel the preliminary rounds one more time. Nevertheless, we have a great news! The plans for the EuroCup 2022 Finals weekend have been confirmed!

23 Clubs coming from 8 different nations are expected to participate in the rounds, the dates of which remain the same as originally scheduled. A new name for this special season, EuroCup 1 and the EuroCup 2 will take place on 21-24 April 2022. The Champions Cup 2022 will take place on 5-8 May 2022. Hannover United, Germany, Dinamo Lab Banco Di Sardegna Sassari, Italy, and RSB Thuringia Bulls, Germany, will be the hosts.

Champions Cup 2022

Every club will play 1 game per day. Clubs have been allocated according to the order of EuroCup ranking and this will decide who will play each other on the first day. The results decide the crossover and semi-finals on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.

Also on 21-24 April 2022, the qualification tournament 2023 will take place in France, hosted by LUC Lille Handibasket. 5 teams will compete to get access to next year’s EuroCup competition. It will be the first time that a team from Armenia and a team from Malta will compete in IWBF Europe club competition.
