Added 9 June 2021: Rhine River Rhinos (Germany, RBBL1 (Division 1)) are looking for an ambitious head coach. Ideally we are looking for an experienced coach, that can teach our many national players a lot and unlock their full potential as a team. But we are also open to give a chance to a young and talented coach with a clear vision for our team. Our head coach is autonomously in charge of organizing the teams trainings sessions and his coaching tactics.

Rhine River Rhinos were founded in 2013 and made their RBBL1 debut in the season of 2016/17. We have been doing our best to develop professional structures within our club. But as many others there is still room for improvement and we are working hard on us to do so every year. However, compared to other European teams, we do not need to hide concerning our professional structures: All our athletes have working contracts as professional athletes which means that they get full health care and accident insurance and get their visa as professional athletes.

Over the past five seasons in Division 1 we have made it to the playoffs three times. In 2017 we placed second at Challenge Cup. Our roster holds national players from six nations. Our plan is to not only establish our team to play for the titles of the league, but also to develop our sport for a wider audience.  We live by our motto: You can’t stop a running rhino!

Interested? Don’t hesitate to contact our manager Mirko Korder via Email: Mirko.Korder@sv-rhinos.de

Added 19 April 2025: Age: 29 | Position: Forward / Centre | Left-Handed Shooter

Hello, my name is David Ion, and I am a 29-year-old wheelchair basketball player from Great Britain, classified as a 4.5. I am actively seeking a team for the upcoming season.

Standing 6’3″, I am a strong, physical player with a solid presence at both ends of the court. As a left-handed shooter, I excel in both inside and outside shooting, and I am equally effective in passing and defending. My versatility allows me to contribute to all areas of the game, and I pride myself on being a well-rounded player.

My experience includes playing for the GB Academy, Scotland academy and I have had the privilege of competing in Germany, Spain, and Greece. After returning to the UK due to the pandemic and family reasons, I play in the highest league here, the British premier league where I continued to refine my skills and leadership abilities.

Notably, I captained our team during the EuroCup qualifiers in Malaga, Spain, last spring where we were runners up. This experience helped sharpen my leadership and strategic skills under pressure.

I am now looking for the opportunity to contribute to a team abroad and take my game to the next level again.

Added 28 March 2022: My name is Jack Waring, I am 30 years old and a 3.5 point player, from the UK.

I am a tall (6’2”) player who sits max-height, and plays predominantly as a forward, specialising in scoring from the post and from midrange. I have the ability to take control at the point and make accurate passes, as well as fight my way into the key and post-up. My main strength is my shooting ability, though I am very versatile and can adapt to many different roles on court.

I have been playing wheelchair basketball for around 17 years, for a number of different clubs in the UK, such as the Sheffield Steelers and more recently I took on a larger role at Wakefield Whirlwinds as both a player and head-coach. I was also a  part of the GB under 22 squad for a time. Unfortunately, I could not truly be a part of international play due to not being classified at the time, however I recently obtained a classification that conforms to the IWBF guidelines.

I have played with and against some of the best players in the world, and have no issue rising to face any kind of competition.

I would prefer to play in Europe, in the French, Italian, German or Spanish leagues, however I would be willing to consider all offers, from any team. Currently I’m looking to join a team for the 2025/26 season.

To see some of my playing clips, please check my Instagram @j.waring_wcbasketball, send me an email at Waring.j94@gmail.com or contact me by phone on +447737467740.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
