Youth Wheelchair Basketball Tournament – Blankenberge, Belgium

FIRST INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT – YOUTH WHEELCHAIRBASKETBALL, 18-19-20 October 2019 – Blankenberge (Belgium)

Dear Basketball-Friends and Players

We are delighted to invite you to the first edition of our International Wheelchair basketball Tournament for Youth wheelchair basketball teams. The tournament will take place during the week-end of 18-20th of October 2019 in the gym of Sport Vlaanderen located in Blankenberge, Belgium.

This location has the advantage of providing accommodation, housing and meals, as well as the gym centralized in one Centre, close to the Belgian coastline. In view of our aim to accommodate youth teams with mainly players with physical limitations, the concept of a centralized approach enables us to limit transportation of teams to an absolute minimum.

Teams joining this tournament from abroad have the possibility to fly-in via airports such as Ostend, Brussels (Zaventem), Charleroi (Brussels South) and Antwerp (Deurne). Check-in possibilities are foreseen on October 18th.

We plan for transportation with vans adapted for transportation of wheelchairs. When required, this will be charged separately.

The tournament will start on Saturday, briefing on Friday evening or latest on Saturday 9am. Our first game is planned Saturday at 10:30am. We are doing our utmost to ensure a competitive, yet challenging and sportive, event and plan to finish around 5pm on Sunday October 20th.

Our target participants

Wheelchair basketball teams with players aged max 17 and of a moderate level. It is not our intention to attract top teams of “national caliber”!

Our intention is to offer a nice, sportive event of International nature where the players can feel comfortable participating and experience a positive atmosphere, doing so.

A team can have 1 player without physical handicap on the field.

Terms of participation

Teams can register starting May 15th 2019 for as long as there is room. The tournament plans for 6 to 8 teams max. Do not wait too long to make contact with heidi@leuvenbears.be !!

The registration deadline is set for July 31st 2019 or when we reach the max number of teams for the event. A registration will only be taken into consideration when the guarantee has been paid!
