The Netherlands and Great Britain will compete tomorrow for the gold medal

Day 7 – ECMWA 2025

GBR 523-37 GER (W semifinal)

Great Britain book their place to the Ottawa 2026 World Championships and the European Final with an emphatic 53-37 semifinal win v Germany.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the first quarter with GB holding onto a slender 1-point lead, 10-9. It was the 10-0 run that GB went on at the start of the second that really solidified their lead.

The form continued in the third until Germany started to muster a comeback, reducing the deficit to 7 with the final period upcoming.

A 6-0 run for the British side at the start of the fourth calmed the nerves and from there they cruised to victory.

Robyn Love ended the game with a double-double of 22pts and 11rebs.

With GB now qualified for Ottawa, their attention turns to the ever so dominant Netherlands for a 4th meeting in a European Final. Meanwhile, Germany will aim to qualify for the Repechage, where the top 4 teams also go to Ottawa.

“We are so happy to be through to the final, it’s where this team deserves to be and we can’t wait to take on the Dutch again!” – Sophie Carrigill (GBR)

“We fought hard but GB was the more consistent and routine team. I’m proud of our rookies and new players stepping up this tournament and we are still here to fight for a medal.” – Mareike Miller (GER)

ESP 46-76 NED (W semifinal)

The Netherlands booked their place in the final and received automatic qualification for the World Championships in Ottawa next year with a 76-46 win over Spain.

A Beatriz Zudaire basket gave Spain a 1 point lead with just over 5 minutes to play in the first but Bo Kramer’s second 3 of the game retook the lead for the Netherlands who they didn’t look back from there. Sara Revuelta scored 6 straight points for Spain in the second quarter before Jitske Visser answered with 4 as the Dutch took a 41-28 lead into the half.

Spain started the second with a 4-0 run but 12 third quarter points from Kramer and a 19 -2 run in the fourth would seal it for the Netherlands who await the winner of Germany and Great Britain to determine who they will face in Friday’s final.

Kramer led all scorers with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals, as Xena Wimmenhoeve added 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Revuelta finished with 12 points and Zudaire notched up 12 assists along with 9 points for Spain.

“We were able to compete against the Paralympic champion for 30 minutes and now we are going to fight for the bronze. Nobody has to doubt about it.” – Sara Revuelta (ESP)
