A Life for Wheelchair Basketball

A Life for Wheelchair Basketball

The Wheelchair Basketball World mourns Armand “Tip” Thiboutot one of the greatest figures in wheelchair basketball, a legend in his lifetime has left us forever.

Tip was a wheelchair basketball promoter from the very beginning, and instrumental in the establishment and development of wheelchair basketball around the world and especially in America. He was a very good player, a fighter, a trainer, a coach, a visionary, a philosopher, an undisputed expert. Tip was much more. He was a FRIEND to everyone who loved wheelchair basketball like he did, he was always helpful and a perfect teacher.

Tip was also a writer and his book with Stan Labanowich- “Wheelchairs Can Jump” has achieved cult status and showcases his knowledge and vision.

I am proud that I was able to join the path of wheelchair basketball together with Tip for several decades.

I wish his wife and family a lot of strength during this difficult time.

Dear Tip, rest in peace.

The “family” of wheelchair basketball will always remember you.
