ECMWA2021: Further Update on Coronavirus 10.12.2021

ECMWA 2021, Madrid, Spain

On 9th December, during routine antigen testing by their own protocols, that are additional to championship regular testing, one of the Great Britain Women’s Team players tested positive for coronavirus. This result was confirmed at 13:30 today in the results of a PCR test. We wish the player well as they quarantine in their hotel room according to the covid protocol.

All other persons in the delegation of Great Britain have tested negative every day of the competition, including today.

In accordance with the covid protocol, all persons who have tested negative are able to continue in the competition. Following the earlier positive result in a member of staff, the Great Britain women’s team have voluntarily been remaining in their rooms unless travelling to training, games or the regular antigen testing. IWBF Europe continues to support this approach by the team and offers every assistance with ensuring the care and welfare of all players.

Great Britain Men continue to operate in a separate bubble to the Women and are not affected by the situation.
