ECMWA2023 back to Rotterdam

After four years, the competition is going back in 2023 to Rotterdam, Netherlands, as a combined event.

IWBF Europe has the honour to announce that the 23rd European Championship for Men and the 18th European Championship for Women – division A – has been awarded to the Netherlands Basketball Federation. After four years, the competition is going back in 2023 to Rotterdam, Netherlands, as a combined event.

In August 2023, wheelchair basketball will be one of several sports (seven to eleven) that are planned in the first edition of the European Para Championships, organized by Team TOC. Wheelchair basketball will have a special spot as it will take on the entire duration of this multisport event, which will last for 13 days, from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 20 August 2023. The aim is a centralized environment for all sports, with competition and training courts in one single arena centre – the Rotterdam Ahoy.

18 teams in total – 12 men’s and 6 women’s national teams – will take part in the 2023 European Championship. The goal will be the European Crown, of course, and the tickets to 2024 Paris Paralympics.

An experienced group and a large number of volunteers are planned to take part in the organization. Together with Netherlands Basketball Federation, BEN Foundation, who has been also part of 2019 Women European Championship, will be part in the organization of the event.
