FIBA Europe General Assembly 2023

May 18-21, 2023

At this year’s General Assembly in Munich May 18-21, 2023, all 50 member countries were present. IWBF Europe was represented by President Walter Pfaller and Secretary General Petr Tucek.

The elections for the coming legislative period took place in this year.  After an exciting election, Jorge Garbajosa (Spain) is the new president. On behalf of IWBF Europe, President Walter Pfaller and Secretary General Petr Tucek congratulate Jorge Garbajosa on his election success and look forward to a good working relationship. President Walter Pfaller also thanks outgoing President Demirel Turgay, who has been named Honorary President, and FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak for his supportive and open discussion of wheelchair basketball.

President Pfaller had the opportunity to report on the activities of IWBF Europe in the period from May 2022 to May 2023. As part of his presentation he mainly reported on the 3×3 qualification tournament In Birmingham, on the great combined B/C European Championship in Sarajevo, and informed about the structure of the EuroCup, closing with a video of the high-class final in Bemmel, the Netherlands.

Furthermore President Pfaller and Secretary General Tucek took the opportunity to talk with those nations or
delegates, like Bosnia Herzegovina, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, who will hold events for IWBF Europe in the near future or have interested in holding or participating.
