In July the last two places for the ECMA will be decided!

The European Championship for Men – Division B is taking place on 11 – 18 July 2021

IWBF Europe is honored to announce that the 14th European Championship for Men – Division B has been awarded to the Hellenic Wheelchair Basketball Federation. The championship will take place from 11 to 18 July 2021 in Athens, Greece. The main court and the side court for competition and practice will be in a single location. The chosen venue for the event is the Peace and Friendship Stadium, home of the Olympiacos BC, located in Piraeus, on the coastal zone of Athens.

Eight will be the teams competing with the goal of getting the two remaining available spots for the European Championship for Men – Division A that will take place this coming December in Madrid, Spain.
Together with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Lithuania, and Latvia, will compete Russia and Austria, coming from the European Championship for Men – Division A, which took place in Walbrzych, Poland in 2019. After securing the first and second place at the European Championship for Men – Division C, in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2019, also Greece and Serbia will take part in the competition.

The teams will be divided into two groups following the draw that will be announced in the upcoming days. The first three days of competition will see the teams playing in a round robin tournament, meaning that every team will play every other team in the group one time. Based on the created ranking, quarter finals will be played on Friday 16 July. Following semifinals and crossover for the 5th-8th places, the medal games will take place on Sunday 18 July.

Special measures are being prepared by H.W.B.F. and the Local Organizing Committee, in collaboration with IWBF Europe, to ensure that the event will proceed with safety and the health of everyone participating in mind.

Given the current situation, no spectators will be allowed to the games, however, live streaming will be organized to give people the possibility to be part of it and watch the games.
