Potential Referee Program: Achieving Highest Levels in Officiating

Referees from all over Europe meet in Zagreb, Croatia

Last weekend, 23-26 February 2023, referees coming from all over Europe met in Zagreb, Croatia, for the Potential Referee Program – group 2. The group was formed by referees that due to the COVID pandemic had limited possibilities of officiating in international competitions, those that will apply to become international referees and some future candidates.

The Potential Referee Program aims to enable participants to achieve their highest level in officiating. Participants work on criteria, skills, individual officiating techniques and observations.

The session was organized and held by Krunoslav Peić, IWBF Europe Coordinator for Potential and Talent Referees, and Edwin Wallaart, IWBF Europe Technical Commission Chairman, together with NOWB Croatia. Norbert Kucera, IWBF Secretary General, Davorin Nakić, FIBA Europe Referee Director, and Petr Tucek, IWBF Europe Secretary General, participated and supported the clinic during the weekend. Other instructors attending the clinic were Cristian Roja, IWBF Technical Commission Chairman, Dubravka Martinovic, Sports Psychologist, and Žarko Tomšič, IWBF Europe Member at Large.
