ECMWA 2021 – Further Update Statement on Coronavirus

The Turkish men’s team have been withdrawn from IWBF Europe’s 2021 European Championship after further positive COVID-19 tests within the squad.

In line with the competition covid protocol the Turkish delegation were receiving daily antigen tests, following those tests more members of the delegation have tested positive.

With the health and safety of players, coaches and officials being the primary consideration for IWBF Europe, the decision has been made to withdraw Turkey from the men’s team competition.

Turkey will now forfeit their remaining games.

IWBF Europe will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate any further updates regarding the competition if necessary.

The decision was made at a meeting of the IWBF Europe Executive Council on 5th December 2021.
