ECWMA 2021 – Statement on Coronavirus
IWBF Europe – European Championships Men and Women Division A, Madrid 2021, 02.12.2021 Statement on Coronavirus
On arrival at Madrid-Barajas Airport on Thursday 2nd December, a small number of persons in the representatives of Turkey tested positive for coronavirus (covid-19). Testing was carried out randomly by the municipal medical services at the Airport.
Working closely with the Local Organising Committee – FEDDF – IWBF Europe immediately implemented the arrangements of the Covid protocol prepared for the Championships designed to reduce risk to all participants.
The individuals who tested positive were immediately isolated at the airport. Because the teams travel together, all remaining players of the Men’s and Women’s teams were transported to their hotel and taken immediately without delay to their allocated rooms to isolate and await a confirmation PCR test. A medical team from the local government laboratory was dispatched to carry out PCR test in the rooms of the players and staff.
Negative test result from the PCR will result in the players and staff being permitted to join the competition. Positive test will require quarantine for the mandatory 10 days specified in the covid-protocol.
