First victory for Spain, and second ones for Turkey and Israel!

The second day of the European Qualifiers for World Championship Men U23 saw Spain securing their first victory, Turkey and Israel their second ones. The last three games that will define the semi-finals are taking place tomorrow.

POLAND – SPAIN 32-95

Spain opened the second day of the European Qualifiers Men U23 with a victory against Poland. The Spanish team, led by Ignacio Ortega and Manuel Enrique Lorenzo, dominated the entire game against the opponent. After closing the first quarter at 10-23, Spain closed the second quarter with a partial of 3-27. Scoring half of the shots made, Spain was able to close the game at 32-95.

TURKEY – FRANCE 62-53

After a close game, which first partial was closed at 11-12, Turkey secured their second victory. Turkey was able to get an 8-points gap 30 seconds from the end of the second quarter, which was soon cut down by the French team. With two free throws by Mamady Traore and a 2-points layup by Manuel Gomez from France, the first half was closed with a score of 26-22. In the third quarter, after a three-points shot by Mahmut Açikgöz for Turkey, the French players were able to shortly turn the score in their favor and closed it at 40-43. However, this was not enough to stop the Turkish team that started gaining advantage and finally closed the game at 62-53.

ISRAEL – ITALY 62 – 25

Israel closed the second day of competition by leading the game against Italy. After closing the first quarter at 10-8, Israel closed the second quarter with a partial of 25-6, with three 3-points shots scored by Amit Vigoda. Starting the second half with a score of 35-14 and a comfortable gap of 21 points, Israel kept increasing the distance from the opponent and closed the game at 62-25.
