EuroCup 2022: It’s Nearly Time!

EuroCup 2022: It’s Nearly Time!

Eight chosen host countries

After two years IWBF Europe is happy to announce the chosen allocations for the highest and biggest international competition among clubs in Europe. 8 are the chosen countries in which the event will take place. 55 will be the participating teams and 10 more will compete to qualify for the EuroCup 2023.

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, IWBF Europe had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Eurocup for two consecutive years. In 2020, only the champions league preliminary rounds could be played. In 2021, despite good intention, a return to court was only made possible with the Champions Cup at the end of April. Because no ranking points have been assigned to the teams participating in the 2020 and 2021 events, the Eurocup 2022 allocations are, therefore, based on 2019 ranking list.

The preliminary rounds of Champions League will take place on 3-6 February 2022 in Italy, Spain and Israel. The three groups will be hosted by UnipolSai Briantea84 Cantù, BSR Amiab Albacete, and Ilan Ramat Gan. Eight teams will qualify for the Quarter Finals.

The second weekend of March will be full of action in 9 different locations. The Quarter Finals of the Champions League will take place in Germany and Spain, hosted by RSB Thuringia Bulls and CD Ilunion. The two best qualified for each group will access the Final 4 Champions League, which will take place in Germany on 5-8 May 2022.

In Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, France, and Italy the preliminary rounds of EuroLeague 1, 2 and 3 will take place. The goal will be to get a ticket to the finals of each league, which will take place on 21-24 April 2022.

In the same weekend of the EuroLeague finals, the qualification tournament for EuroCup 2023 will also take place in France and Italy
