New Plans for EuroCup 2022

Omicron forces cancellation of EuroCup 2022 Preliminary Rounds

IWBF Europe Competition Commission met on Monday 24th January to discuss the possibility to continue with the plans for EuroCup 2022. With sadness we must inform clubs that all Preliminary and Quarter Final rounds of EuroCup 2022 have been cancelled. Due to the current situation with the spread of Omicron variant of Coronavirus, the Commission had to take the difficult decision to cancel the preliminary rounds of EuroCup one more time.

The Champions League Quarter and EuroLeague preliminary rounds should have taken place during 10 – 13 March 2022, with the finals taking place at the end of April and at the beginning of May. The plans are now to look forward to April and May hoping that the situation will allow us to organize a smaller tournament.

As always, any decision to cancel a competition is not easy but it is made in order to protect the health of the athletes and ITOs.
