The Eurocup 2023 officially began

Bilbao, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in Klosterbourg: the stage of the first phase of the Champions Cup

This past weekend fourteen teams met in Austria and in Spain to compete in the group stage of the Champions Cup – the highest club competition in Europe. In the first phase of the competition, 28 games have been played in three different locations in two days, 3 and 4 February 2023. The best two teams of each group will participate in the Quarter Finals, which will take place on 9-12 March 2023. From there, only four teams will access the Champions Cup Final 4.

The Eurocup 2023 will continue also for the other teams. The three teams that finished in the third place during this weekend’s competition will participate in the Eurocup 1 Final, while those that finished in the fourth place will compete in the Eurocup 2 Final. Eurocup Finals are planned for 27-30 April 2023. Who will they compete against depends on the results and rankings of the Eurocup Group Stages.

After this general introduction, let’s go back to the results of the Champions Cup Group Stage!

The three Spanish teams led their groups and remained unbeaten during the competition: Bidaideak Bilbao BSR (4/4 games won in group A), Econy Gran Canaria (3/3 games won in group B), and CD Ilunion (4/4 games won in group C). With only one game lost, Galatasaray SK, GSD Porto Torres, and RSV Lahn-Dill finished in the second places of each group.

The draw for the Champions Cup Quarter Finals took place after the last game played in Gran Canaria.

As anticipated above, Hornets Le Cannet, BG Baskets Hamburg, and ASD S. Stefano will compete in the Eurocup 1 Final; while Ilan Spawak Ramat Gan, DECO Metalferro Amicacci Abruzzo, and cs Meaux bf will participate in the Eurocup Final 2.
